The Egyptian Supreme Cybersecurity Council (ESCC) shall have the following functions and mandates:
- Approves the determined critical communications and information infrastructures in all sectors of the state and develops frameworks for assessment and follow-up of the security measures thereof.
- Approves the frameworks, strategies and policies to critical communications and information infrastructures for all sectors of the State.
- Develops cybersecurity industry development plans and programs and prepares the needed skilful employees and cadres to face the cybersecurity challenges and risks, setting a framework for scientific research and development in the field of cybersecurity.
- Cooperates and coordinates efforts regionally and internationally with relevant entities in the field of cybersecurity and security of the critical communications and information infrastructures, drafting recommendations for any necessary legislative interventions for such security measures.
